Tunnel test – the fastest aero wheel

As a player the aero wheel game, we constantly look at variables of performance. Our R&D team relentlessly analyze the components that make up drag, watts per gram and ride stability, then translate that into wheels designed to roll faster and smoother.  It’s pretty technical stuff.

Talk the talk

The “less than expert” in the crowd can be easily overwhelmed by the avalanche of technical info coming from wheel companies, including this one. Fortunately, the fine folks over at Bike Radar put ten aero wheels to the test to help decipher performance under real world conditions. And it’s pretty easy to follow.

Procycling Magazine‘s Jamie Wilcox does a great job of walking through each wheel in the test. Jamie clearly explains the strengths, and in some cases weaknesses, of each model tested.  It’s no surprise to hear the Knight 95’s perform well on both wind tunnel and road tests.

“The Knight 95 really impressed…one of the most consistent in the wind tunnel.  Out on the road, the stability is absolutely uncanny”, said Wilcox.

Walk the walk

Looking at the chart below, it’s easy to see where the 95 excels. As wind angles increase, the Knight wheel more effectively sheds drag and maintains stability.

Considering the amount of R&D we’ve put in to this wheel, the results are no surprise to us. This is exactly what we design it to do. Our T.E.A.M. design keeps you pedaling forward smoothly and quickly, even in the windiest of conditions.
