After holding second, behind Amanda Miller for the first two laps, Compton pulled ahead, never to be caught again. Katie held the front for the next four laps and cruised to victory in her usual style. The second running of Oklahoma’s inaugural UCI CCX event was met with sunshine and crisp temps and a course that favored Compton’s powerful and technical style. “This course, you think it’s kind of flat, but it’s not the case at all,” said Compton, who continues to lead the USA Cycling Professional Cyclocross (Pro CX) standings for Elite Women. “It’s technical, and twisty. There are enough mountain-bikey sections; I think you can easily get a couple of bike length’s gap. And if you go hard after those sections, it’s easy to stay off the front and keep a gap.”
