Knight Composites teams up with pro triathlete Heather Jackson through 2016

When the crew at Knight Composites set out to design the fastest wheel in the world, they had a very special athlete in mind to test their 65mm and 95mm depths, and today are thrilled to announce their partnership with Bend-based superstar Heather Jackson.
Jackson’s prowess on the road is notorious. The three-time Wildflower Triathlon Champion and course record holder (2012, 2013, 2014), Alcatraz Triathlon Champion (2013), Ironman 70.3 Oceanside Champion (2013) and Silver Medalist in the 2013 Ironman 70.3 World Championships also took the Ironman Princeton 70.3 Championship in September 2014, marking her comeback after a series of injuries plagued her schedule throughout last year. Undaunted by the setback and refreshed by the win, Jackson immediately launched into full training mode and will race this weekend’s Herbalife Ironman Pucon 70.3, racing on Knight’s 65mm front wheel and 95mm rear.

Knight’s CEO, Beverly Lucas said, “When we started building our sponsorship strategy, we knew we wanted Heather as part of the team. She’s a phenomenal cyclist, but being small and super light, she was a really good test subject to corroborate our results in the wind tunnel on the road, particularly as they pertained to handling through the front wheel. Being a Bend resident, we could easily swap out different wheels in different scenarios as the weather dictated and really understand how our wheels reacted. Heather’s feedback gave us exactly what we’d set out to achieve and we couldn’t be happier to have her on board.”

Jackson was initially attracted to Knight’s claims of enhanced steerability in cross winds and less drag in their wind tunnel testing, and added “I am so stoked to be working with Knight Composites. The depth and experience of the people behind this company is unparalleled and shows in the technology they are bringing to the table with these new clinchers. After extensive riding and testing the Knight Composite wheels, I feel confident going into races that I’ve left no stone left unturned in terms of my equipment to put me in the best possible position to win.”

Jackson’s goals this year include the defense of her previous titles, the Ironman World Championships, 70.3 World Championships and XTERRA World Championships where she will race Knight’s mountain wheels, due to launch late spring this year.

“The wheels are FAST and there is so much more to look forward to in terms of upcoming products”, said Jackson. “I’m super excited to be working with such a talented team and am so grateful to be welcomed into the Knight Composites family.”
