Triathlon Update – Ironman Chattanooga and Lanzarote

Big results coming in over the weekend from Knight’s Triathletes at Ironman Chattanooga and Lanzarote.

At Ironman Chattanooga 70.3, Knight sponsored athletes absolutely owned it, bringing home 2 – first place finishes in both Pro Men’s and Women’s and the Pro Women’s fastest bike split. Bam!

Heather Jackson laid down a 4:15:20 on her way to defending her crown, grabbing back to back wins at the event. Coming out of the water, Jackson was more than 2 minutes behind the leader. Making up that time and more on the bike, Heather grabbed the fastest bike split for the Pro Women! #Superfastwheels pushed her into the lead, and she held off all challengers to take the victory with a smile. Well done HJ!

Matt Russell had an extremely tough field ahead of him. Matt finished the swim leg outside the top 10 before gaining ground in the bike leg and ultimately overtaking all competitors in the final leg. In his typical workman-like style Russell hammered away at the leader’s lead on the bike, reeling him in to within striking distance for the run. Way to go Matt!

Meanwhile, in the unique landscape that is Lanzarote, Jesse Thomas set out to defend his 2016 win at the Spanish Island event. Coming off what seemed like a methodically calculated training week leading up to the full Ironman event, Jesse grabbed the second fastest bike split, only minutes behind the leader. Unfortunately the strong bike leg wasn’t enough to push him on to the top of the podium this year, finishing a respectable third. Nice work Jesse, you make us look good!
